The textile mosaics of Liselotte
Höhs, seemingly so simple, are in effect a work of genious,
comprising a feeling or an ancient memory. The method used is similar to that
'lignee' or 'marmoree', defined in the past as 'a commesso'. An intricate
composition is made up of fragments of different shapes and materials on one
or more backgrounds, supported by a canvas frame, added bit by bit, and
following a pre-conceived idea. Liselotte
Höhs
has done about 50 tapestries, which could also be caled 'soft
mosaics'.
